The Corey Ford sporting treasury : minutes of the "Lower forty" and other treasured Corey Ford stories / compiled and edited by Chuck Petrie ; with an introduction by James W. "Doc" Hall. Wautoma, Wis. : Willow Creek Press, 1987. vii, 351 p. ; 24 cm. The major portion of the Corey Ford Sporting Treasury, Part I, is a collection of some of the author's best "Lower Forty" stories. It is preceded by an introduction by Doctor James W. Hall, a close friend who Ford characterized as Harscrabble's "Doc Hall." Part II of the volume contains some of Ford's other well-known articles, some of which originally appeared in Field & Stream, Collier's and the Saturday Evening Post. They are included in this volume because they are not "Lower Forty" stories -- the stories with which most sportsmen connect Ford - but relate to the reader the author's skills as a serious writer as well as a humorist. he third and final part of this book contains only one story: "The Road to Tinkhamtown." This short story is heralded by some as one of the finest pieces of outdoor literature ever written, and once read, it is one that the reader will probably never forget. -- Cuck Petrie. 20210414.
